This is Michael Moore's first, and one of his most popular, feature-length documentary films. It is made in his usual personable satirical style, but this one is possibly one of his more personal too. He grew up in Flint, a town which he describes as being heavily reliant on the General Motors (GM) factory's which were closed down on GM's CEO Roger Smith's orders. At the time of making this film, 30,000 jobs were lost, and to date the number is estimated at 80-100,000. The whole city has been devastated economically and socially.
