Explorer Paul Hoefler leads a safari into the Belgian Congo region of central Africa, in the areas which were then inhabited by the Wassara and the famous Ubangi tribes, and throughout our journey we witness the landscapes and wildlife of Africa in the late 1920's. Along with this physical look back at the continent, this is also an educational view of how we saw the poorest continent on Earth, and it's 'strange' people and traditions, in our not so distant past. It also reminds us over here in Europe, that those still living in Africa still have a long way to go to avail of the same living conditions which we have been accustomed to, for many decades, at this point. This version is the longest which we have been able to find that is available for online streaming, but the full footage is quoted as being 75 minutes elsewhere on the net. |
