This documentary film, by Israeli filmmaker Yoav Shamir, shows the everyday interaction between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian civilians, at several of the regions' Israeli Defence Force (IDF) checkpoints. We view how the Palestinians are treated like animals, by the Israeli's, even though most of them have nothing to do with any terrorist groups. The Palestinian lands are completely surrounded by Israeli land, Israeli-controlled seas and Arab lands controlled by governments which are now allied to the Israeli's, therefore the outer crossings are the only way for Palestinians to leave their local areas for much needed work, food, water, medical supplies, and to keep in touch with family who have been forced into refugee camps outside the Palestinian territories. The inner crossings, however, are sometimes even more important, often linking neighbouring villages together. You get a real sense as to how the dignity of an entire nation has been destroyed by their continuously invading Israeli neighbours (new illegal settlements continue to be built), when many innocent people are not allowed to cross borders within their own land by the IDF. |
