We do not know why some people develop it, and others don't, and we are still imprecise as to exactly what it does to the human system, but there have been advancements in the care of those who are suffering from it - in western care systems atleast. For example, the presence a couple of specific genes in the system of a person, coupled with a smoking habit, can increase the risk of developing MS by an incredible 2500%.
