Home - Full English Version

This film is almost entirely produced with aerial shots of various parts of planet Earth. The aim of the producers was to show the diversity which is present on Earth, and also how we humans are damaging the ecological balance of our planet. There are some impressive shots of landscapes throughout the film, but the most memorable pictures are those which show exactly how human encroachment has eaten up large parts of our planet, with animals, plants and the general environment, suffering tremendously.

Film by: Yann Arthus-Bertrand / Luc Besson Length: 94 mins
Year: 2009 Hosted By: YouTube
Video Availability

For some strange reason, the Home Documentary people do not allow the sharing of this film on most independent websites, it can only be viewed on YouTube itself. It did work for a short period of time, but like many websites, if we currently attempt to stream it from here, you will just receive this message... "This video contains content from Home Project, who has blocked it from display on this website".

Considering this film is supposedly a non-profit documentary which is primarily aimed at getting a particular important message out there to as many people as possible, and the films producers have made it available for free private and theatre showings, and for free stream from youtube, it really does seem ridiculous that they do not then allow it to be shared on the kinds of websites where visitors are looking for this kind of film.

Furthermore, Bertrand said, during a TEDtalk (read transcript), that... "[Home] is not a normal movie. The film is going to be distributed free. This film has no copyright. On the fifth of June, the environment day, everybody can download the movie on Internet. The film is given for free to the distributor for TV and theater to show it the fifth of June. There is no business on this movie. It is also available for school, cities, NGOs and you". Maybe 'You' does not include BlatantWorld.com and it's visitors? Bertrand has also since failed to add a Creative Commons license to the film, in order to legalise the position of this film, for the people who may actually want to carry this message to the wider public.

Sadly, as with a lot of activism nowadays, pettyness does seem to be getting in the way of actually getting the message out there. And it would make one wonder about some peoples intentions. Nevertheless, this is an excellent production, with some highly educational footage, so do make sure you check it out.
