House Of Saud
Film by: Simon Reeve / PBS Frontline / BBC / Arte
Year: 2005
Length: 116 mins
Hosted By: Google Video

The House of Saud - the Saudi Royal Family - has controlled the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since it was first established in 1932. Franklin D. Roosevelt originally struck a secretive deal with the ultra dictatorial family, which has seen the United States of America giving the kingdom military protection, in return for cheap oil, and this deal continues to this present day. The repressive House of Saud has used this long-term US protection to enforce strict codes of conduct over it's entire population, but this has come back to bite them in the backside over the past few decades, with anti-American Islamic extremism more pronounced in Saudi Arabia, than in many of the neighbouring territories. This film examines the recent history of Saudi Arabia, and the House of Saud's relationship with it's own population, neighbouring countries, and with the United States.
