The Evolution Of Flight Animals
Film by: CBC
Year: 2001
Length: 42 mins
Hosted By: Google Video

Whilst a remarkable three quarters of all land animals on the planet can take to the air, surprisingly little time is given to research into how and why winged animals actually evolved. This film gives us a basic understanding into some of the most accepted theories of flight evolution, and shows us that creatures from very different evolutionary lines, all evolved flight capabilities independently. Did wings initially evolve to help animals run up steep hills? Why were the earliest winged creatures far bigger than any flying creature which has survived until today? And how did such big animals get off the ground to begin their flight? Attempts are made to answer these, and many other interesting questions, during this film.
