Part 1 tells us a little about the history of the electric car, and goes through the entire story of how the EV1 came to be on the road. This was the first mass produced electric motor car by a large US manufacturer to be made in 100 years, but General Motors ended up recalling and crushing almost all of them, even though there were large waiting lists.
Part 2 delves into the reasons for the EV1 failing. According to the producers, this was down to General Motors not wanting it to succeed and the film makers have a good stab at proving this. The car and it's revolutionary technology and design also found opponents in industry and government.
