Below is a list of the current African nations which have international arms embargoes in place. Worldwide, the United Nations (UN) currently has 12 arms embargoes, the European Union (EU) has 16, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has one, and the Organisation on Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) has an embargo on those fighting in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. Included in those figures is a special international embargo, which both the UN and EU have in place, on 'Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and associated individuals and entities'.
