The highest mountain in the World is Mount Everest, and it is in very fine local company. Infact all of the 100+ highest mountains in the World are in Asia, with the majority of them in amongst the various ranges of the Himalaya's. All of those top 109 peaks are higher than 23,600 feet above sea level, but Everest does slightly tower above the rest by a touch. Also known as Sagarmāthā, Chomolungma, Qomolangma or Zhumulangma in different parts of Asia, Mount Everest is not only seen as a giant physically, it is often the source of much spirituality in the local area too. |
