Most Refugees In Europe (by country of origin)
Related Facts & Figures |
|
The majority of refugees in the World originate from African and Asian nations, and, according to the UNHCR, most refugees actually remain in the region which their country of origin is situated. This means that the major refugee generating regions - which are also the poorest regions on the planet - must provide resources to house massive numbers of desperate people, resources which they often cannot provide. In total, the UNHCR estimates that only 1.7 million refugees (from a total of over 15 million) live outside their region of origin. |
