This is an alphabetical list of the widely-recognised sovereign states in Europe, all of whom are recognised by the majority of other countries, or even by all other nations in some cases, and all of which are United Nations member states, except for the Vatican City. Any additional nations, which are being run as de facto sovereign states, are listed below.
