The figures below are for 'nominal' Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which measures the market value of all goods and services from an entire nation in a given year. We have chose to include both the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) estimates along with those from the World Bank, and the variations in the two sets of figures can be explained by different testing criteria and techniques by the World's two 'most trusted' financial institutions.

Who's Got The Oceanian Wealth?

The only giant amongst the Oceanic economies is Australia. Whilst Indonesia is listed below, most of that country is situated in Asia, and it's economy is often linked moreso to Asia, so you could easily say that Australia singularly influences all of the other nations in the region with it's massive economy. Infact many nearby island nations use the Australian dollar as their currency, including Christmas Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Norfolk Island, Kiribati, Nauru, and Tuvalu. Australia ranks 14th in the World on the GDP rich-list, and it's 1 trillion dollar yearly GDP is often attributed to it's resource-driven economy, but agriculture and natural resources actually only account for 3% and 5% of GDP respectively. The standard of living in the country is considered amongst the highest in the World, with the country, along with it's major cities, all faring very well in most quality-of-life indexes.
