The five nations listed below make up a total of 76% of the global arms trade. This is a shocking indictment of the foreign policy of those listed, although many of their population would not be aware that they play such a big part in the overall World trade of killing machines and munitions. This list is put together by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), on a yearly basis, as part of the SIPRI Yearbook - a publication which outlines data and analysis in the areas of national security, conflicts, military spending, armaments, non-proliferation, arms control and disarmament.
