There has been a debate in recent times as to whether The Nile or Amazon is the longest river system in the world, and this is due to different testing criteria by different people, and a difference of opinion as to where the mouth's of the rivers are and where the exact source's of the rivers originate from. Methods of measuring their length's and seasonal adjustments also call the figures into question. We have used the most widely accepted figures, and we follow the assumption that The Nile is the slightly longer system.
