| Martin Luther King, Jr. was born on January the 15th, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. During the 50's and 60's he became the most prominent civil rights leader within the United States, and around the World too. He was a Baptist clergyman who remained extremely active as a speaker and organiser of marches. He led the famous 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott and his efforts led to the 1963 March on Washington, where King delivered his 'I Have a Dream' speech. In 1964 he became the youngest person to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, but was assassinated for his beliefs on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. |
