During an interview on November the 2nd 2007, Benazir Bhutto mentioned that Osama Bin Laden had been murdered by Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh. The Al-Jazeera program was then re-broadcasted on the BBC, but they deleted that portion of the interview. After some pressure those incredible words were reinstated for the online version, but it has never been explained why the program's presenter, David Frost, didn't follow up with questions about the remark. Less than two months later, on December the 27th 2007, just as she was about to become the first female president of Pakistan, Bhutto was assassinated. Saeed Sheikh was also blamed on the kidnap of Daniel Pearl, and has been fingered as an MI6 agent by ex-Pakistani President, Pervez Musharraf. Bhutto did subsequently speak of Bin Laden in the context of him still being alive, but she never did get to explain her comment about his murder. |
