According to this news report, from the Russian national broadcaster Russia Today, China believes that the US played a part in the torpedoing of the 1,200 tonne South Korean gunship, The Cheonan, which resulted in the deaths of 46 South Korean navy personnel on the 26th of March this year. Apparently Beijing believes the North Korean leadership's assertions that they had nothing to do with it, there was a suspiciously strong US military presence in the area at the time of the attack, and this report also brings up another glaring irregularity; the munitions used were of Western descent - German. And the Germans do not sell anything to the North Koreans. Whether this report itself is dis-information being put out there by Moscow, Beijing, or both, or if there is some truth in it, this shows that one superpower has absolutely no problem in publicly blaming another superpower on such a cruel and dangerous hoax. If only the mainstream media in the US (and Russia and China for that matter) would report more openly on the potential truth behind these kinds of stories. |
